After our stay on the beautiful green island Bohol in the Philippines, we travelled to Cebu by ferry and continued to the airport. From there we flew to Puerto Princesa in Palawan. A stay in The Ivywall Hotel is an absolute must if you are traveling to Puerto Princesa since this 5 star hotel is located in one of the prime spots of the city. You can easily walk to many touristic attractions and the best restaurants in town!
Where to eat:
Just across the street you find the frequently awarded top restaurant Kalui, a typical Balinese restaurant. You even have to take off your shoes when you enter the restaurant! Seafood lovers rejoice because they serve mainly fish there 🙂 Don’t forget to make reservation since this is one of the best restaurants in the area and arguably the Philippines. Not in the mood for fish? Look no further and pay a visit to Captain Ribs. It is easily reachable by a short tricycle trip (an experience in itself and something you need to do while in the Philippines). As I am a big fan of spareribs I had to go there to check it out. The spareribs were great, the best in the Philippines! You simply can not leave Puerto Princesa without having visited those restaurants.
What to do:
The Ivywall hotel offers many day tours. The most popular tours are a visit to the Underground River and the Honda Bay. These day tours are very well organized and easily booked through the hotel. We only had one day to spend in the proximity of Puerto Princesa so we decided to go for the Underground River. I will tell you more about that trip in a separate article 🙂
Be sure to check out the spa in the hotel! After the day trip to the underground river there is nothing better than a relaxing massage. I was in luck because the spa services at the hotel were amazing. Truly the best massage we had in the Philippines! Even better than the massage treatment on the beach under the palm trees in Bohol. If you don’t have a lot of time, just take a massage for half an hour. You will not regret it, trust me. 😉
The hotel offers a lovely swimming pool as well. We didn’t use it though since we only stayed there for 2 nights and those days were completely packed with activities and fine dining. The breakfast is included and offered a lot of choices. Best Western Plus – The Ivywall Hotel ended up being the perfect hotel in order to visit Puerto Princesa and the astonishing surroundings. We would highly recommend everyone to go to this place when visiting Puerto Princesa.
